From 1 January 2006, certain people working with children in Western Australia are required to have a national criminal record check – a Working with Children Check.
Working with Children Checks are now compulsory under the Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 (PDF, 216kb), passed by State Parliament on 26 November 2004.
