The OSIC has partnered with Playgroup WA (Inc) to support the establishment and promotion of 19 intergenerational playgroups throughout Western Australia. Playgroup WA (Inc) have extensive experience in providing playgroup programs that are safe, culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of children and their parents and carers.

Intergenerational Playgroups provide seniors, young children and their parents and carers with the opportunity to interact through play. The playgroups will operate in a variety of situations including aged care facilities, retirement villages, and through local government authorities and community based seniors programs.

Intergenerational Playgroups are a strategy for reducing social isolation, breaking down barriers that exist between the community and older people and increasing community awareness of the value of the intergenerational playgroup model.
