The Deparment for Communities' Office for Women's Interests produces publications and research on issues affecting women. As well as informing advice to Government, research and analysis from OWP provides a resource for policy makers, researchers, advocates and community leaders.
The Office seeks to take an inclusive, inter-sectionality approach to research, to identify how issues affect different groups of women in society, such as women with disabilities or women from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The research draws on a range of source material and data, including surveys, international, national and Western Australian statistics and community consultation. Some of the data acquired by the Office includes statistics on women in Western Australia that is not readily available from other sources.
