Positive Image Award:
Following consultations with young Western Australians, the Office for Children and Youth implemented the Positive Image Award for all secondary school students in 1998.
This Award is an attempt to recognise the thousands of students within the State who are working towards promoting a more positive image of young people within schools and the wider community.
Often the work of these students goes unacknowledged, so this Award provides an opportunity to recognise their contributions.
The Award is not designed to reward academic or sporting excellence, as there are already facilities for this within schools.
Rather, the Award seeks to identify those students who exhibit personal attributes which foster a more positive appreciation of our young people and, in turn, improve the public's perception of them.
Every secondary school is encouraged to nominate a School Ambassador who will receive an Award at the school level.
A judging panel will then go through the School Ambassador nominations to select the most outstanding student/s in each of the WA Educational Districts as District Ambassadors.
District Ambassadors are then invited to travel to Perth from around the State to take part in a Special Reward Day.

2005 Positive Image Award Winners:
Twenty-five young Western Australians were appointed District Ambassadors as part of the 2005-06 Positive Image Award.
The students' commitment to a wide range of community service activities was honoured at a special breakfast ceremony at Parliament House on Friday 2 December 2005.
The young people, from across the State, were acknowledged for serving as positive role models in their schools and wider communities.
The Award recognises the often quiet achievers in our secondary school system, and this year's award winners are exceptional young people. The Positive Image Award is an annual program open to all secondary school students across the State.
