The Depression Initiative Self-Assessment Card is designed to raise awareness of depression in seniors and to help promote the message that 'Depression is not a normal part of ageing'. As part of Western Australia's Active Ageing Strategy OSIV has partnered with beyondblue (the nation depression initiative) to issue the card, which will prompt many older people to realise that the symptoms they are suffering might constitute depression. The card contains a check list of basic questions to consider, while its flip side lists local telephone numbers for organisations who can help.
