Terry Murphy
Director General
Department for Child Protection
The Department for Child Protection was created as a result of the Government’s response to the Ford Review [PDF, 1mb] (Recommendations [PDF, 58kb]), the independent review of the old Department for Community Development.
The Department’s major focus is on meeting the needs of vulnerable children and families. It is responsible for protecting and caring for children, and supporting people at risk of crisis.
To achieve this, we are undertaking a number of reform projects to develop the Department to meet its mission as an effective and resilient agency for the community.
There is nothing more important than the safety and welfare of our children.
