The Department has a policy of being open and accountable to the public. This includes being available to answer media inquiries about the work of the Department.
Where possible and reasonable, the Department endeavours to provide a response to journalists within their deadlines.
Sometimes the Department is not able to disclose information to the media due to laws such as the Children’s Court of WA Act 1988 as well as our customers’ right to confidentiality.
