Who's eligible?
To be eligible to stay in a house, students must have a strong desire to study.
You should also be:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander under 18 years of age
- from a remote area
- in year 11 or 12 (or sometimes in years 8 to 10)
- have attended school regularly and consistently in the recent past
- able to live with other people and students from different parts of Western Australia
- be able to meet the house rules.
How are students chosen for the houses?
As there are only 36 beds available, there is a limit to the number of students we can accommodate.
Students are selected if they can show they:
- want to learn and will try hard at their studies
- are responsible and can live away from home
- will go to school every day unless they are sick
- have not been in trouble with the police or school
- are able to pay the cost of accommodation (through ABSTUDY or by another arrangement).
