Accommodation Assistance for Frail and Older People

The Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) program is a flexible support program for frail low income older people, generally over 50 years (or who may be prematurely aged due to ill health, substance use or chronic homelessness) or may be homeless or living in insecure public or private rental accommodation.

The program provides either long or short term assistance to people who may be at risk of premature entry into residential care due to housing related issues, or who may be at risk of eviction.

The program aims to assist people to remain living in the community as independently as possible by linking them to appropriate housing or community care options.  This means ensuring that they are living in safe, affordable and suitable housing that adequately meets their needs.
