Ida Curtois Award

The Ida Curtois Award is presented every year to young people:

  • aged between 17 and 25
  • who've been in long-term care
  • continuing with further education or training.

It celebrates young people who continue with further education, despite being separated from their family of origin.

There are 4 awards, including the Ida Curtois Scholarship:

  • University Achiever Award:
    Successfully completed year 12 and eligible to enter a University. 
    (Approximately $4000 for each winner.)
  • Technical and Further Education Achiever Award
    Successfully completed year 12 and eligible to enter a TAFE course.  
    (Approximately $1000 for each winner.)
  • Apprenticeship or Traineeship Achiever Award:
    Young people aged 16 plus in the first year of an apprenticeship or traineeship.
    (Approximately $1000 for each winner.)
  • Ida Curtois Inspirational Award:
    The most outstanding students from the Achiever Awards. This award is worth $1000 in addition to the Achiever Award.

Travel costs to the award ceremony will be met to ensure country recipients can attend.

 

The scholarship is named after Ida Curtois, a foster carer and president of the Foster Care Association of Western Australia Inc from 1984 to 1990.
