Organisation

The Department for Communities has five major divisions, Policy and Planning, Children and Family Services, Community Engagement, Redress, and Corporate and Business Support.  

The Policy and Planning Division develops policy and undertakes research in the following communities of interest:

·       Children, Early Years, Youth and Families

·       Women and

·       Seniors, Carers and Volunteering.

The Children and Family Services Division is responsible for:

·        Child care, licensing and standards

·        Parenting WA

·        Youth Development Officers

·        Best Start Coordinators and

·        Children Services Officers.

The Community Engagement Division manages:

·        Non-government funding

·        Seniors Card Centre and

·        Community Relations.

The Redress Division is a compensation scheme for adults, who as children, were abused or neglected in State Care.

 The last division of the Department is Corporate and Business Support which manages all of the organisation’s human and financial resources.
