The Indigenous Vision 2005 – 2009 Guiding Principles and Action Plan are the Department for Communities' Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander strategic plan. They are the result of an extensive consultation process carried out by the Indigenous Policy Directorate.
The Indigenous Vision Guiding Principles provide the information regarding the development and priority areas of the Indigenous Vision.
The Indigenous Vision Action Plan is the built on a strengths base philosophy and is the mechanism for implementing, evaluating and monitoring the progress of the Indigenous Vision.
The Indigenous Vision 2005 - 2009 will provide the foundation that will stimulate new practices and direct changes for the Department to grow and to be leaders in developing relationships to strengthen the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community. It brings leadership to a shared journey of mutual respect, openness and understanding.
There are 5 priority areas in the Indigenous Vision. These are;
- Safety and Capacity Building,
- Cultural Awareness,
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Development,
- Developing and Engaging Young People and
- Developing Individuals, Families and Communities.
