Seniors Ministerial Advisory Council

The Seniors Ministerial Advisory Council gives seniors and their respective bodies a chance to express their ideas and concerns directly to the Minister for Seniors.

The council’s role is to:

  • consult regularly with relevant community organisations and individuals on matters relevant to seniors 
  • provide advice on government policies and programs relevant to seniors 
  • monitor how relevant government policies, programs and changes are affecting seniors 
  • provide advice on matters relevant to seniors' interest referred by the Minister or raised as a result of community consultation.

Council is scheduled to meet six times a year.. The inaugural meeting was held on 10 June 2009.

Current council members are: Mrs J van de Klashorst JP (chair), Mrs J Dunstan, Mrs J Jeffes, Ms R Kershaw, Ms J McDonald, Mr T Rollo, Mr J Slattery, Mr J Smith-Gander, and Ms M Thomas.
