There are more than 428,000 active volunteers in Western Australia. Almost one in three adults contribute a total of more than 70 million hours of unpaid work to the community (ABS 2000). The Government’s Valuing Volunteers (PDF) policy ensures that volunteers' contributions are recognised and supported in practical ways.
