Volunteer Resource Centres provide a referral service linking people who want to volunteer with organisations needing volunteers. Staff at the Centres discuss with each volunteer their interests, skills, availability etc to work out a match that best suits them and the organisation.
The Centres also provide support, training and information to organisations using volunteers in their area, promote volunteering and recognition of volunteers and act as a centre for information in the local community. Resource Centres often work with their local communities to celebrate events such as Thank a Volunteer Day and National Volunteer Week. They are active in raising community awareness about the importance and rewards of volunteering and getting local communities involved. |

There are now 22 Volunteer Resource Centres operating in Western Australia and one on Christmas Island. Fifteen of these centres receive State Government funding through the Department for Communities.
