Volunteering Secretariats Vista of Vs

King’s Park was adorned with a vista of bright red V’s on Tuesday 5 December 2006, Thank a Volunteer Day, as the Minister for Volunteering, Hon,David Templeman MLA, and the Volunteering Secretariat paid tribute to iWA's estimated 430,000 volunteers.

The Fraser lawn area was transformed with the planting of 2100 V’s, each of them bearing the name of a Western Australian volunteer.

All of those featured were nominated by their organisations. They also received a special Certificate of Recognition signed by Volunteering Minister David Templeman, and many attended a morning tea in the park to receive their certificates from him personally.

They came from organisations as diverse as Tourism WA, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, the National Trust of Western Australia, People Who Care Inc., Autism Solutions Inc and the Association for the Blind WA.

Mr Templeman told the specially-invited audience that WA communities were better places thanks to the passion and commitment of volunteers.
