2008 Women's Community Awards
Applications are now open for the 2008 Women's Community Awards.
These awards provide an opportunity for women working in the non-government community sector (paid or unpaid) for work or research, where other funding sources are not available.  Click here for further information and to download an Application Form.

Women’s Experiences of Paid Work and Planning for Retirement
The Minister for the Status of Women, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has recently released 'Women’s experiences of paid work and planning for retirement.' The research, commissioned by the Federal Office for Women and is available from their website www.ofw.facsia.gov.au/publications/.
Using data from the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women’s Health, the research analyses the employment and retirement patterns of Australian women aged 53-58.

The Minister for the Status of Women has released a report that confirms that the Government is clamping down on people trafficking.  The Australian Institute of Criminology’s report, 'Australian criminal justice responses to trafficking of women for sexual purposes: Understanding current practices and the experience of agencies involved in that response' was commissioned by the Office for Women. Australia Celebrates 25 years of Women's Rights. 
28 July 2008 marked the 25th anniversary of Australia’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
