What to take with you to a Welfare Centre

What to do before you go to a welfare centre:

  • Secure your home and belongings (caravans, boats and trailers)
  • Place valuables in a secure place
  • Make arrangements for your pets.

What you should bring to an welfare centre:

  • food and some water for 24 hours (there are no cooking facilities available during a power failure)
  • spare clothing
  • blankets and pillows
  • toiletries and towel
  • torch
  • medications (Please advise staff if you have a serious medical condition)
  • books, toys for your children
  • consideration and concern for others.

Pack your gear in a waterproof container

What you cannot bring to a welfare centre:

  • alcohol, drugs, cigarette smoke
  • pets
  • loud music and noise.
