Western Australian Grants for Women Program
The Department for Communities, Office for Women’s Policy’s (OWP) Western Australian Grants for Women Program 2008 is open for applications. The program aims to strengthen the social and economic wellbeing of women and increase their participation in the community.
One-off grants are available for projects that encourage the development of networks, improve community information, strengthen women’s organisations and encourage women’s leadership. Projects that promote positive perceptions of women in the community are also welcome. Grant amounts will vary according to the nature of the project, for example:
· Up to $3,000 for events, workshops or initiatives undertaken by a women’s community group or organisation.
· Up to $10,000 for projects or programs undertaken by two organisations in partnership.
· Up to $15,000 for community development projects or programs undertaken by two or more organisations that develop lasting and tangible initiatives for women, which include an information dissemination strategy of project outcomes.
OWP values projects which utilise a community based approach. A capacity building project can generate sustainable outcomes for a community because it builds on the existing abilities and resources of everyone involved – individuals, groups and communities. Capacity building is inclusive, collaborative and uses community engagement and develops partnerships.
